The Hispanic Counseling Center’s Christmas party was held on Sunday, December 20th, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Hempstead from 3 to 6pm. Donation letters were sent to the agency’s long standing contributors and donors. Donations of goods and time were received or picked up from local churches, from local supermarkets like stop and shop, from staff members, board members, and even some of our students. Staff members assisted in gift-wrapping, bringing in donations of food and beverages, and volunteering the day of the party.
Entertainment included performances as “Mistletoe” by our very own adolescents from the teen drop in center as well as “Jingle Bell Rock” by the Respite Program girls, a sign along with our Associate Director Claudia Boyle, who invited the children to come to the stage and sing with her popular Christmas songs in both English and Spanish. Lastly, we had a surprise for the children, “El Payaso Tamborcito”, a clown that put up a magic comedy show.
We are so grateful to Mr. Frank Minier and Ms. Karina Uzman for their time and wonderful disposition to dress up as Santa and Mrs. Claus, distribute the presents to the children from the stage and put a smile on their faces. We were able to provide gifts for over 150 families throughout the different programs. The event had a great turn out and many families were excited about receiving their gifts.
Below are pictures of the wonderful event.
